The Carnival of Santoña has been officially declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. Here is the press conference held by the Santoña Town Hall to make the public announcement.

“Beyond the numbers, the labels, or the awards, what is truly being celebrated today in Santoña is the triumph of a tradition born from the heart of the people.
From the irreverent laughter of the murgas, from the dazzling costumes that transform the streets,
from the voices that tell —through songs and parades— the joys and sorrows of a town that has turned its carnival into an act of resistance, a collective work of art, a mirror in which to see itself.”
