Carnavaldelnorte was born in 2003 with the goal of gathering all the information related to the Carnival of Santoña in one place. We began the task of compiling historical documents, booklets, and programs related to the carnival, which we published on a website created specifically for this purpose. In doing so, we established a reference platform for the Santoña Carnival, also known as the Carnival of the North.
In 2004, we faced a major challenge: broadcasting the murga contest live on the internet for the first time. The success of this project motivated us to improve year after year, expanding our coverage to include other carnival-related events.
The association was officially established in 2005, driven by the passion to continue this work and secure the Carnival of Santoña’s rightful place in history. Over time, we have gathered and organized the carnival’s history, a continuous effort as new information regularly emerges, highlighting the carnival’s historical significance.
The association consists of six members: Alberto Ancín, Eduardo Cabieces, David Pérez, Juan Antonio Subisaga, Javier Quintana, and Javier Quintana Jr. Since 2015, we have partnered with Iván Expósito and Radio Santoña, joining forces to broadcast all carnival events together.
We also rely on the collaboration of Puerto and José Luis Cabieces, as well as Eduardo Quintana, who handles photography, capturing unique moments from all the carnival activities.
All of this work is available for viewing on our website www.carnavaldelnorte.com and through our social media channels.
