The Santoña Town Council, from the Department of Festivities, has kindly appointed Francisco Montes as the Town Crier for the Santoña Carnival 2024. Although known to all as "FRAN".

After a long carnival career, this year he will have the honour of being our town crier and will show off his knowledge of the Santoña carnival.

He began his carnival career in 1983 with the murga Los Vinikis A. The following year he took part in three murgas, Vinikis A, Vinikis B and Guiris. Since then, he began to participate, collaborate, write, etc. with other murgas. In some of them he was the creator, author and director.

So we can find murgas such as Los Guiris, La murga de Pinote, Los de Siempre, Los de San Quintín. Three carnivals with Los Diablillos, another three with Los Piratas. Four with Los Lolailos, the same as with Los del 7 al costado. Or fifteen with Los Vinikis.

Although its main murgas have always been the Murga Infantil Los Majaretas, although it has changed its name over the decades. And it has been on stage for 34 years in the children's category.

And of course, Las Marchosas, his murga of 38 carnivals. With which they started in the 80s with Felisa, Conchi, Luci, etc. They started calling themselves Las Niñas Marchosas, as they were all "young" and "very young". 38 years later this murga is still on stage every carnival. Always composed, directed, etc. by its director and this year's "Fran", the "pregonero".

And after more than 100 participations, with different groups, in the carnival. We are looking forward to seeing you on stage giving your opening speech to start the Carnival of Santoña 2024.
