Here we leave you the letter of presentation of "Los trotamurgas", murga created for the 2024 carnival and one of the novelties for the Santoña Carnival murgas contest.
Hello to all carnival fans!
We are Los Trotamurgas, we wanted to tell you a little about how this madness of making a new murga for the 2024 contest was born.
It all starts in 2020, that year poisoned by a certain COVID-19 that has caused us so much misfortune. The thing started with some meetings of the old murga of "The Pirates". We wanted to do a murga again among friends and we even thought about the costume. But as with everything that makes you excited, there was a but... The damn bug destroys the 2021 contest. Alas, the illusion of 100 to 0 faster than an F1. The following year, there was a clear idea that despite COVID-19, there would be a contest again. We even started rehearsing, but the personal problems of some members who wrote, directed, etc... They let us off the wagon again. We move on to plan b.
-And why don't those of us who can go to the street? There we don't have the pressure of not making a fool of ourselves and we can enjoy the carnival just the same.
-Well...
Some said reluctantly, others however did not want to. That's how it was, we looked for new people who, even if they hadn't gone out, liked this murgas thing. We went to the street, we had fun like no one else and we performed some performances that we had prepared. Summary of the year?
-Next year to the contest.
The following year, we started rehearsing and there were 15 or 16 of us in the murga... More problems, we were 8 rehearsing. Of course, this is not a job and there are more important things in each person's private life than a murga. But as the contest has grown, we believed that if we didn't work hard enough we would make ourselves ridiculous. Obviously, no one wants to make a fool of themselves, which we conveyed through social networks that we could not arrive at the contest well presented knowing that we have more important problems at home. We canceled the plan so much that we didn't even see each other to get to the street. Between irritations, people getting out of the car, etc... New plan. New project, there are 4 of those old pirates left, which we decided to change the name giving way to "Los Trotamurgas" We don't know much about murgas, but we know a lot about going to bars and enjoying the carnival (well, and the non-carnival too). We start again, some of us who stayed, and four great signings who came to help us and in the end there are less missing than the one who directs... We start another adventure with the desire to enjoy, have a good time and above all bring a small smile to people in these difficult times. We don't like comparisons, and even less with "La Chirigota de Santoña". Since with what they have done at the Gran Teatro Falla in Cádiz, we don't even manage to touch their laces...
PS: It won't be a great presentation, but it is the best definition of this band of hooligans.
