Cristobal Aguiló Domínguez, a native of Cartagena, has won the Santoña Carnival 2025 Poster Contest with his work "Lighthouse of the Carnival"
The central figure in the poster is a curious and original costume; the white horse comes from the legends about the Lighthouse of the Horse and it is this in turn that is disguised as the Lighthouse itself with various connotations about the town of Santoña; on its hooves it wears heels formed by the two columns of the monument to Juan de la Cosa that commemorates its 75th anniversary. Riding on the back of this peculiar costume is our beloved mermaid, glittering with glitter, controlling the horse that rears up when frightened by our Bream that arrives from the Carnival dragging party confetti. In the background, you can see Berria Beach against a starry backdrop.
After five days of public voting at the Santoña Tourism Office, the Carnival of our town now has its official image, and the people of Santoña are already enthusiastically preparing for these festivities. The celebrations will kick off on February 14 with the preliminary rounds of the Murgas Contest and will conclude on March 15 with the Day of the Trasmerano.
